Bountiful
Blessings
July 28, 2013
Good
morning. How are you? Im blessed, totally blessed. And maybe just a tad
stressed. Just trying to juggle a few things and well, dropping more than I am
catching. There was a movie with Sarah Jessica Parker about this “super” woman
who had her career, her children, her home life. I don’t even know why I
brought it up. I haven’t even seen the movie. Sigh. I am a strange one, I know.
So where was I? Oh yea. The juggler. Haha. Or the clumsy juggler. J
I try. I
try really hard. I try to keep a clean house, pay my bills on time, cook
dinner, help out with my parents, help my daughter, excel at work and at
school, participate in my extracurricular groups…. But sometimes I am just
tired. And I feel like I am disappointing everyone. I can’t seem to get it all
done. Something falls through the cracks. I make “to do” lists. I cross off
items and add others. I make new lists. I never see the end and well, sometimes
I feel a tad bit inadequate. I wonder how other people “do it”. Well, not that
it makes me feel better to see others falter, that would be so wrong. But it does comfort me to know
that I am not failing at something everyone else has a handle on. But I believe
that we set our standards for ourselves a little too high. We are not perfect.
We cannot handle the weight of the world. Only one person was perfect. Only he
can do it all.
For you
young mothers, there is - getting kids out of bed, taking them to school,
picking them up, baseball and ballet, homework, groceries, dinner, picking up
around the house, work, bathtime, and finally falling into bed, and for
everyone in their prime, retirement does not mean that you have nothing to do –
there are doctors visits, paperwork, volunteer work, part time work,
extracurricular groups, drug store, more paperwork, groceries, keeping house,
cooking, grandchildren, children, exercise, and finally falling into bed. Whew,
wears you out just thinking about it, doesn’t it? You tackle it. You do the
best you can. And then you worry about what you didn’t get done. My car needs
an oil change. My kid needs new baseball cleats. Where did I lay that Medicare
paperwork? Quit worrying about it. I promise you that the world will not end.
The car will make it another day. The house will not collapse under the weight
of a layer of dust. McDonalds has healthier options. Its all good.
So this
week, relax a little. No, I am not giving you a free pass to let it all go. I
am giving you a free pass to release the worry and stress. Turn it over to God.
He can handle anything you throw at him. He has a perfect batting average of
1.00. Impressive? Oh absolutely. His abilities are beyond mere words.
Bible
Verse for the week:
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:2

Quote for the week:
“Imagine life is a game in which you are
juggling five balls. The balls are called work, family, health, friends, and
integrity. And you're keeping all of them in the air. But one day you finally
come to understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce
back. The other four balls...are made of glass. If you drop one of these, it
will be irrevocably scuffed, nicked, perhaps even shattered.”
