Bountiful
Blessings
March 3rd, 2013
Good morning, friends and family. How are you? I miss
you, you know. For a lot of you, this is my way of communicating. Strange,
isn’t it, when I am such a talker that written communication is my thing. Oh
well, once again I am getting WAY off the subject. This weekend, we went
shopping. Yes, that might explain my wonderful mood. But it gets way better. We
bought quite a bit of great clothes, even nice name brands, for an awesome
price. Shopping is fantastic but getting deals, well, it is priceless. I
couldn’t wait to show everyone and tell them what a deal I got.
Well, you know me by now. That got me to thinking. If
I am THAT excited about a clothes deal that I want to tell the whole world, why
don’t I shout about the best deal that I ever received? Why don’t I parade it
out to show everyone? So today, that is my plan.
The ultimate deal? The absolute best bargain I have
ever found? Let me shout it from the rooftops. I have been given the gift of
eternal life. Jesus paid the price.
He gave up his life to give me mine. I do not have to pay anything. He took care of it for me. A gift. No strings. No hidden
undercurrents. No agendas. Don’t get me
wrong, dying scares me. Im human with human emotions and human fears. I would
lose my family and that breaks my heart. BUT… look at what I will be gaining. A
life with God. A life without fear, without pain, without struggles or stress.
An eternal life. A life without death, without heartache, without suffering. And I pray that one day, my family and I will
be reunited in our heavenly home to spend eternity together. You could spend
the rest of your life shopping and never find a better deal than that.
This weekend, we said good-bye to a dear friend,
Colonel (ret.) Joe Page. He was a wonderful friend, husband, father and family
member. Mr Page embraced his gift. He was thankful for the ultimate deal and
knew where he was going to spend eternity. Most of us are selfish. We don’t
want to lose a loved one but it is exactly that - we mourn our loss. But in the light of his gift, Mr Page’s passing is a
cause for celebration. Our loss is his gain. He gained so much, so much that we
cannot comprehend its entirety. Jesus told us that he would go before us to
prepare a place for us. Mr Page has been welcomed home into the place created just for him. The angels rejoiced as he
joined his heavenly father to walk beside him on streets of gold. Can you just
see it? Brings tears to your eyes, doesn’t it? I pray that one day we will ALL
be reunited in our heavenly home to spend eternity together.
For my non-believing friends or my “on the fence”
friends, I ask you today to simply look at the ultimate deal, the best gift you
will ever receive. You are intelligent. Do your research. If you were making a
big purchase, you would look into it, right? You would search the internet for
reviews. You would read up on it. So give this shopping experience the same
time and effort. Read what others have to say. Listen to a preacher. And most
importantly, read about this ultimate deal. It is all laid out for you in
written form and can be purchased at any bookstore, can be downloaded onto your
Kindle, checked out from the library and found on numerous websites. The
information is found in a book titled “The Bible”. I would suggest that you
begin with Matthew in the New Testament. (We naturally want to begin at the
beginning. That is the way we were taught to read a book. Im telling you to break the rules. Start with Matthew. And take a
look at Nicodemus. He is the perfect example of asking God questions. God wants
you to come to him on your own. He wants you to embrace him. If you have
questions or doubts, that’s ok. Ask him.). The gift is there for everyone. Not
just me. Or her. Or him. Everyone. You may not know God but he knows you. He
has a place prepared for you. It is up to you whether you join him there. The
price has already been paid. You simply need to accept the gift. J

Prayer
for the week:
Dear Lord,
We humbly bow down before you to give thanks. You paid
the price for us to gain the ultimate gift – the gift of eternal life. We are
not worthy of such a gift and yet you gave us to us freely. You do not ask for
repayment or any hidden agenda. You simply ask for us. And I come to you today
offering you all of me. You have my love, my faithfulness and my service. I do
not deserve this gift but it is my most valued treasure. I pray that others
will join me in acceptance so that one day, we may all spend eternity with you.
In Jesus’s name. Amen.
