3.10.13 I dont wanna have to go to work... dont make me....

Bountiful Blessings
March 10th, 2013

Good morning, friends and family. How are you on this beautiful spring day? Gorgeous, isn’t it? Mom, Summer and I are going clothes and shoe shopping today. Why, you ask? Because Summer Rae got her first full time job with benefits! YEA!!! How awesome is that? God has truly blessed us. After graduation, she got a temporary job for a few days to get her feet wet. Then she got a full time temporary job that eased her into the workplace. And lo and behold, when it came crunch time to get benefits (insurance) she went on her first interview and was given the job. How often does that happen??? She plans on attending college in the fall for her Masters degree in Library Science. She wants to be a research librarian. All that to say, in her new position, she will be doing lots of research.  Sounds terrible to me but the absolute ultimate to her. J

But the excitement wears off, doesn’t it? At the beginning, we are all smiles and gushing, “Oh my, I LOVE my job and everyone I work with”. Then, well, Im not sure what happens but something does. Then you begin dreading getting up in the morning. You start counting down the days until Friday. You anxiously await holidays and vacation days. You may even find yourself taking more sick time than previously for stress conditions - headaches, colds, tummy aches. What happened? Did the job change? Do others change? Or is it you that changed? Your attitude? Well, I can sum that up for you. Its you. Yep. I called you out on it. All on you, baby. Why am I so confident of this? Because. Been there. Done that. Oh sure, sometimes the job does change a little. And sure, people change, even personnel change. But is that enough? It shouldn’t be. And is it perfect anywhere? Absolutely not. No sirree. There will always be events that get on your nerves, people that get on your nerves, situations that get on your nerves. Basically, a whole lot of things that get on your nerves. So will it improve if you change jobs? Sure. Return to the beginning of this paragraph. Beginnings are always good. So what does that mean? What do we do? Flit from job to job? Doesn’t seem smart. Stick with a job that makes you miserable and unhappy? Doesn’t sound fun.  Ahhhh, tough decisions to make.

What I haven’t addressed is the simple truth. God wants us to work. The Bible makes several references to it. Ok, so first things first, we need a job. Two (and the toughie), where? What are we always supposed to do? Pray about it. God will place you where you need to be. Sometimes we are whiny and miserable and want out. Bad. But God may have a reason for you to be there. There may be something or someone that you need to touch. OR there may be something or someone that needs to touch you. When it is time to leave, God will let you know, and he will place you in the next position. So work hard. Pray a lot. And listen to him when he speaks. Haha. Sounds so easy, doesn’t it? Nothing worth having is easy. Or so my Mama always said and she is pretty much always right. Excuse me, why did I say pretty much? Please let me edit before she reads this. My Mama is always right. Better, mom?

Now please let me add a little diddy down here at the bottom. I may have been overzealous a little and made it sound like everyone is unhappy in their jobs. A little Freudian slip maybe. Haha. That was not my intention. Some people may love their jobs. I hope this letter finds that everyone does and that I wrote it simply for the sake of listening to myself talk. I hope that it does not apply to anyone. But just in case, that slim chance, that someone out there is well, thinking about it, I want you to know that “most” of us go through it at some time or another. It may not be your current job but you have most likely experienced it at one time or the other. This too shall pass. But Im telling you…..

Prayer. It’s the end-all answer to everything.

Bible verse for the week:

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,  Colossians 3:23

Prayer for the week:

Dear Lord,

Thank you for my job. I know that I am blessed to have a job to go to every day when so many are without. Please forgive me for my whining and complaining. You have placed me in the position for a reason. Maybe I am meant to touch someone or maybe I need to be taught a lesson of some type. I trust you, Lord, with my well-being, my days and my life. Please show me how you wish me to proceed. Please show me how I may serve you in this position. Let my attitude be an example of your love for me and trust in me. My earthly body is weak and well, a little whiny but my soul is filled with your love, mercy, strength and kindness. Thank you, Lord, for your presence in my life. Amen.

Bible fun for the week:

Fill in the blank on some odd Biblical quotes (I will give you clues to help)

Let beer be for those who are (gnhsierpi), wine for those who are in anguish! 7 Let them drink and (gefort) their poverty
and remember their (simrey) no more.

Better to live in a desert  than with a (rrelauqsoem) and (gganing) wife.

A quarrelsome wife is like the (gindiprp) of a leaky roof in a rainstorm;  restraining her is like (stiaregnirn) the wind
or grasping (lio) with the hand.

If only you would be altogether (tslien)! For you, that would be (modsiw).

Trivia – are these quote from the Bible… or are they fakes?

QUOTE
BIBLE
NOT!
Life is but a walking shadow.
?
?
As for man, his days are like grass.
?
?
Life is but a fleeting moment.
?
?
Death smiles at us all, All a man can do is smile back.
?
?
Surely every man is a mere breath.
?
?
For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.

Love you and praying that you have a wonderful week! Terri
