Bountiful Blessings
January 13,
2013
Good morning. We have had a touch of summertime, haven’t we?
Deceptive. Sneaky weather. We get all excited and then bam! Sweater weather. Oh
well. Embrace the moment! J
For some reason, my brain is not catching up with me today. I do
not want to skip this week so I am simply going to share a couple of recipes
with you, ok? One for substance and one for fun. (Yes, I know. Bad timing.
Yummy recipes while we are all still working on those resolutions. Sigh. But Im
thinking moderation. Haha. Am I rationalizing? Maybe. But I am certainly going
to enjoy tasting these recipes while I make them. Hey! I HAVE to test them. I
wouldn’t want to feed my family something that wasn’t worthy. J)
Ice
Cream Party Pie
1/3 cup peanut butter
1/3 cup corn syrup
2 cup rice krispie cereal
½ cup strawberry jam or preserves
1 quart strawberry ice cream, slightly softened
Mix peanut butter and corn syrup. Add cereal. Mix until well
coated. Press in 9 in pie pan. Chill. Spread ¼ cup of the jam in chilled crust.
Spoon softened ice cream over jam. Swirl the remaining ¼ cup jam over top of
frozen pie.
Tator
Tot Casserole
1 lb ground beef
½ cup chopped onion
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 can cream of mushroom soup
Brown beef and onion. Drain. Then put ½ lb tator tots on bottom
of casserole dish. Add the meat mixture. Put layer of tator tots on top. Bake
at 350 degrees for 50 minutes.
Prayer for the
week:
Dear Lord,
Sometimes I am lost. Sometimes I am tired. I am always weak. But you lead
my way. You give me rest. You lend me strength. You are always with me, besides
me and inside me. You, and only you, complete me. Thank you, Lord. In Jesus’s
name. Amen.
Thought for
the week:
God understands that sometimes we are tired and weak. Sometimes our brains
are full of cotton balls. He tells us to come to him. He will give us rest. He
will take on our troubles so that we do not have to think. He says to go ahead
and dump it on him; he can take it. How awesome is that???!!!
Bible Verse
for the week:
"Come to
me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
Bible Fun for the week:
How many books of the Bible can
you find??? Goal is 16.
I once made a remark about
the hidden books of the Bible. It was a lulu; kept people looking
so hard for facts, and for others, it was a revelation. Some were in a jam,
especially since the name of the books were not capitalized. But the truth finally
struck home to numbers of our readers. To others it was a real job. We want it
to be a most fascinating few moments for you. Yes, there will be some really
easy ones to spot. Others may require judges to help find them. I will quickly
admit it usually takes a minister to find one of them, and there will be loud
lamentations when it is found. A little lady says she brews a cup of tea so she
can concentrate better. See how well you can compete. Relax now, for there
really are sixteen names of books of the Bible in this paragraph."
And for you who just need
something to lighten your load…
- Did
you know that they had cars in Jesus' time? Yes, the Bible says that they
came in one Accord
- What kind of lights did Noah have on the ark? Flood lights
- Why didn't Noah catch fish to feed his hungry family? He only had two
worms!
- What do John the Baptist and Winnie the Pooh have in common? Their
middle names.
- Sunday School Teacher: "What evidence is there in the Bible that
Adam and Eve were noisy?" Boy: "They raised Cain!"
- What do you call a sleep walking nun? A Roman Catholic!
- Where is the first laxative mentioned? The bible of course: Moses
took the tablets and went into the wilderness, and it came to pass!
- How do you get holy water? You boil the heck out of it
- What is it that Adam never saw or had, yet left 2 of them for his
children? Parents
- Why couldn't they play cards on the ark? Noah was sitting on the deck
- Who was the straightest man in Genesis? Joseph - because he was a
ruler.
- Why do they say "Amen " at the end of a prayer instead of
"Awomen "? The same reason they sing Hymns instead of Hers!
Please have a wonderful week. Get
some rest. Turn it over to God. And remember, the day is what you make it – do
not let the day make you!
