Bountiful
Blessings

Good morning, sunshine. How are
all you wonderful people? I am doing awesome. Excuse me, I am awesome. It’s all about perspective, baby. I made a decision
last week to stay upbeat. Not let it get me down. (This would not be the first
time I made this decision but I keep hoping that this time I will be strongerJ). So far, so good. I can laugh at myself and the idiosyncrasies
of others.
So that brings me to the topic of
this week…. laughter. Summer and I had the opportunity to spend some time with
an aunt this weekend, and we had a wonderful time! We looked at old pictures
and talked for quite some time. But she got us to laughing and I had to call my
mom. She got me laughing harder. The two of them were a trip. I thought how wonderful
life can be when you viewed through laughter and love!
Think about some of your best
memories…. a sleepover with friends, laughing through the night…. playing
computer games with friends, yelling and laughing as your friend’s character
gets beaten by Princess Peach… going to the beach with girlfriends, having a
few adult beverages and laughing til it hurts…. playing pool with the guys and
laughing, well, at each other…. spending time with your sisters – scarecrows,
manure masks, mud bugs (you know exactly what I am talking about)…. spending
time with your cousin (pretty sure you were supposed to be painting the fence –
not yourself!) Just remembering makes your heart a little lighter, doesn’t it?
I don’t know what has happened but I do not hear enough laughter nowadays. Is
it my age? Well, that might play a factor but I do not hear it with the younger
age group. (I was sitting in the food court recently at Samford. I could hear
lots of conversations buzzing around me, a smile here or a soft chuckle hear
but no laughter. Sigh, so sad. It’s college. That is a great age to let it
loose and laugh with friends.) Is it stress? Well, that is a real possibility. Do
we take ourselves too seriously? Do we worry too much about what other people
think? Have we forgotten how to enjoy ourselves, each other and life? Whatever
it is, we need to find it. Laughter is a gift, a true blessing.
So my thought is…. laughter
cannot be forced or done upon command. I
can’t really ask you to go laugh today. See, it even sounds a little nuts. So
the best that I can ask for is to set aside some time for something fun EVERY
SINGLE WEEK. Stomping barefoot through the rain, a picnic in the park, singing
loudly in the car (me and my Prince!), chasing your kid (or having them chase
you), watching your mom playing GOW and getting stuck in a corner, sharing old
stories with your sisters…. Something fun. J
Quote for the week:
Bible verse for the week:
Then
was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they
among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them. Psalms 126:2
God bless you and keep you!
