9.8.13 Men - the good, the bad and the ugly - love them all!

Bountiful Blessings

September 8, 2013

Hello everyone. I hope this letter finds you well. (A special note to two wonderful people - Jala and Aunt Donna. Im so glad that you are doing better!) Last week, I told you about losing a dear man, Wayne. Wayne’s passing brought me to today’s thought… Men. Haha. Yep. We may think about them oh, once in a while. They can be jerks. They can be loud and obnoxious. They can openly make inappropriate body sounds/functions. They stink. (Ok, the guys are like, whoa, whats going on here?) Well, men can also be wonderful and itts that wonderful part that I want to talk about today.

When I was visiting my cousin’s house last weekend, I left there thinking about my cousin’s husband (yes, he is my cousin too but I said it that way for y’all). He is as much a part of the family as she is. He would do anything for us and he loves us as we love him. So then I thought about mine. Jim would do anything for my family. They are not my family but “our” family. So this led me to thinking about the other guys in my life. From my dad to Robbie to Chad to Rick to Harley to Steve to Gary to Chuck to Bryce to Jason to all of them (if I didn’t name you, its because there was not room)…. We are so blessed. The guys in our family are always quick with a hug and an I love you. They do not hide their emotions. They do not hide behind their “manliness”. They will jump in there to help others in need. They attend their kids sporting events and dance recitals. They love their wives and their children. They love God with all their hearts and share the love with others. My guys know how to love. And what more could you really ask for??

Today I encourage my man friends (and even my lady friends) to openly share your love. Jesus was open in his love to everyone. He loved the poor, the weak, the sinful, the rich, and the healthy. He did not hide his love and encourages us to share ours. Jesus said “A new command I give you; Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35. Today, please, be a disciple.

Thought for the week:

Ladies, do you have special men in your life? Men who love? Sons, grandsons, sons in law, husbands, boyfriends….Love them back!!!! You are blessed to have them – let them know. Always feels good to not only know that you are loved but for someone to tell you and show you. J

Prayer for the week:

Dear Lord,

Thank you for the men in my life. For their love, for their strength, for their openness. I know that I have been truly blessed to know them and to love them.  In Jesus’s name. Amen.

Bible Verse for the week:

The right word spoken at the right time is as beautiful as gold apples in a silver bowl. Proverbs 25:11

Bible fun for the week:

While Saul’s son, Jonathan, was David’s best friend. Saul, became David’s enemy. Read about it in Samuel 17:27. The find the words below hidden in the puzzle.
