2.10.13 Now where did I lay those keys???

Bountiful Blessings
February 10th, 2013

You have heard that expression “I would lose my head if it wasn’t attached to my neck”. Sigh. I feel that way all the time. I lose everything. How? Ugh, this is even more embarrassing. Because I put it somewhere special so that I don’t lose it and then I forget where that somewhere was. Ding. Ding. Ding. The prize goes to Terri. Sometimes it is even worse than that. I know. Really. I will have my stuff in my hand to walk out the door and then in a matter of seconds, I have lost my keys. ???? I find them in the most random places. What is going on in my head? Well, I hate to break it to my young friends but your eyesight is the first to go and then, then it is the memory.

My brother can remember events from twenty years ago with startling clarity but ask him something that happened yesterday. But on his defense, he is like a bloodhound. Lose something and he is the man for the job. He is persistent and attention oriented. He will find it or die trying. I dread when he gets to the point where he loses everything. He will lose his mind. J I have other family members who may tell you the same story once or twice or…. They forget that they told you. I have a husband who remembers nothing but oh, wait, that doesn’t count because he forgot simply because he was not listening to me when I told him the first time. Inattention does not equal memory loss. So,… I forgot, where was I?

Memories are a blessing. What would life be like if it was “Fifty First Dates”? I don’t know how many of you saw the movie. The premise of the movie was she lost her memory every night and had to start from scratch every morning. She was happy because she did not know any better.  And what about “The Notebook”? Tell me that you didn’t cry. Puhleeze. No one watched that movie and didn’t cry. Life is full of memories. Small ones. Big ones. Important ones. School ones. Work ones. Family ones. Vacation ones. Memorizing information for a test. Memorizing birthdates. Memorizing Bible scriptures. Memorizing directions. Whew. It is no wonder we may forget a thing or two. Our brains are full. Right now, my mom and Jim are both thinking – wait, I have plenty of room in my brain for my brain is far superior to the average human being. Yea, well, in our family, we let them think that. Our little secret for keeping the peace. Sssshhhhhh. J

So my friends. Today’s letter is… well, its Terri again. Here, there and everywhere. But mainly I wanted to let you know that you are not alone. We all struggle with forgetting things. You may forget an anniversary. You may lay down your car keys and spend thirty minutes hunting them only to find you laid them next to the back door. You may not remember what your wore or ate yesterday. But you know what? Who cares. Today, we are blessed. We have enough memory today to remember those we love, to remember that we are loved and most importantly, to remember that we are children of God. Not everyone is blessed with such memories today so cherish them. Go out and make more. Make your own “notebook”. Ooh. Ooh. I remembered something… I remembered to tell you that I love you.

Take care and have a wonderful week, my friends!

Bible verse for the week:

“I thank my God every time I remember you.”                   Phil 1:3

Dear Lord,

As I head out into the world today, please help me to remember your word. May I use your teachings to serve you, and may I use your scripture to create loving memories for myself and those around me. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
