Bountiful Blessings
September 30, 2012
Good morning. I hope this day finds
you well. It’s a beautiful day. But really, what day isn’t? Rain or shine? Cold
or hot? Each bring something special, something unique to the table. If you
really think about it, how awesome is it that? God made EVERYTHING DIFFERENT
and PURPOSEFUL. Haha. Even us. Something special. Something unique. We
have our own strengths. We have our own paths. God has a purpose for each one
of us. ”For I know the plans I have for you, ”declares the Lord, “plans to
prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”. Its an
awesome promise! Plans for me! Me!
But what is the ultimate plan? The
ultimate goal? We are all on a beautiful journey with an indescribable
destination. My ticket is punched. I am setting my affairs in order. Telling
and showing everyone that I love them and that I will see them again. Packing
my bags. When he comes, I am ready. Are you ready?
What must I do,” asked the
Philippian jailer, to be saved? And Paul answered, Believe. Just believe, and
you’ll be saved - that’s all it takes. Don’t ‘do’; you’ll just get in the way.
Let God do the ‘doing’. How easy is that?? Believing. Well, for some, it sounds
easier than it is. A little doubt. A few questions. They want everything clear
and easily explainable. God speaks to us - but we do not hear his audible
voice. God shows himself to us - but we do not see his features. Clear as mud,
huh? Let’s break it down. Faith is trusting, believing. God speaks to us in
our heads, our hearts and through other people. You just may not have
understood it was him. But think about it. Have you ever been thinking about
something? Agonizing over it? And then the phone rings… It was weird, wasn’t
it? God shows himself to us through rainbows, the gentle touch of a
stranger or the face of a child. You are feeling down and out. Out comes a
beautiful rainbow. Or a stranger stops you and says something unexpected and
very kind. You do not need a burning bush for God to tell you and show you that
he is there with you. He speaks to you. He shows himself to you. Am I making
sense? Sometimes what is in my head is hard to get out of my mouth, or in this
case, my fingers. J
As I set my affairs in order in
anticipation for that glorious day, I want to make sure that we will meet
again. “In my Father’s house are many rooms… I will come back and take you to
be with me.“ Jesus did not say a room for me or a room for you. His promise was
to ALL OF US. A DC TALK song talks about two people walking down the street
together and one disappears, I wish we’d all been ready. That breaks my
heart. Two friends. Two family members. Two strangers in line. He is giving us
the opportunity to change the song. No one has to be left behind. So, I ask you
to consider your status today? Are you ready? God has already purchased your
ticket on the J-train. Its at Will Call waiting on you.

Prayer
for the week:
Dear
Lord,
Thank
you for the life you have given me. The time to be with family. The time to be
with friends. The time to serve you. You gave your life for me; I give my life
to you. Please show me the way, O Lord, so that I may follow the path you have
prepared for me to lead me on the journey home. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
