10.24.11 treasured memories

Today’s Bible Study is going to take a different route. Its more of a thought for the week, ok? (Like I said, we talk about whatever is on our minds).
Thought for the week:
Ok, my mom has told me lots of stories from her childhood.  One was about a little green-eyed monster and underwear. Yes, you heard me. Underwear. Her mother always made their clothes  - from dresses all the way down to handmade silk underwear. Mother was so jealous of the other girls and their store bought clothes.  One day in gym class, the girls were changing and admiring each other’s undies. Mom gazing at the store bought and her classmate oogling over the handmade silk. The girls took off their underwear and swapped. Yes, I know. A little gross.
So why did I share this story today? Well, for a couple of reasons. One – to show the silliness of envy. The whole grass is greener on the other side thing. Two – to show how we should be thankful  of the everyday gifts we are given from store bought to handmade silk.
I love these memories. Treasure the times and the stories with your family.
Prayer for the week:
Thank you, Lord, for your bountiful gifts in our lives. May we treasure the unexpected ones.
Verse for the week:
The memory of the just is blessed…… Proverbs 10:7
