Bountiful

This weekend was Labor Day weekend.
What does that mean to most of us? A three day weekend. A time to barbecue,
take that last trip to the lake, the deadline for wearing white. Me? I was
excited about a day of complete and total nothingness. I could do whatever I
wanted. I had an extra day. Whoop - whoop. I could lie around in my pajamas. I
could read. I needed to clean. I could…, oh, the things I could do. So
what did I do? Sigh…. Not my original plan. One day was spent at a friends
house watching football (RTR). One day was spent at my parents. And one day was
spent with Jim and Summer perusing a flea market. Did I have a good time? Oh,
absolutely. Any time that I get to spend with family and friends is a wonderful
time. It just wasn’t what I planned. Hmm. Imagine that. Changed plans. Yep.
Sometimes, we plan and plan and plan. And then. Poof! Plans change. Maybe it is
because our plans are not the best plans. Hmmm…. You think???
I read the following insert off of a
greeting card. Go figure. You never know where God will send you a message. J
The
Master’s Plans
God has wonderful plans for us, but we are
always changing them. We would rather have a window here and a door there,
coming and going whenever and wherever we please. Thank God he keeps cutting,
hammering and leveling, making us better with every change.
Enjoy the rest of your week! Know
that you are always in my thoughts and prayers.
For
this God to our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the
end. Psalm 48:14
Dear
Lord, I am always making lists and plans, scratching things off and adding new
ones, thinking I am in control. Foolish, foolish me. Lord, please help me to
remember that you, and only you, are in control. I am the worker and you the
ultimate contractor. You make sure everything gets done and done correctly. You
watch for the tiniest details and the overall picture. The finished
product? Me. I cannot thank you enough for your time , attention and your love.
In Jesus’s name. Amen.

Ok,
here is a different take. Sometimes Bible stories can get as complicated as
soap operas. Read these descriptions and see if you can guess the Bible story.
1. Husband and wife have a happy home,
until one sneaky character slithers in and convinces the wife to break the law.
Then she gets her husband involved in the crime, and they both try to hide from
the authorities.
2. Interracial couple faces problems
because he won’t tell her his secrets. He’s a big man in town and uses his
power against his enemies. But, after much pleading, he reveals his secret, and
she betrays him, cutting off his power supply. She allows his enemies to defeat
him, but he gets his revenge and brings the whole operation crashing to the
ground.
3. Unmarried woman finds that she is
pregnant. But the man she is engaged to does not understand, since it is not
his child. He threatens to disgrace her publicly, but then a strange visitor
changes his mind. He accepts her, and they take a long trip together.
